whatsapp Regarding Violation Of Data Privacy Rights

whatsapp Regarding Violation Of Data Privacy Rights

Center allegedly informed delhi high court that 'What'sApp' is trying to force the user to accept the new policy. In reply to that on friday 'WhatsApp' told the Delhi high Court it would not force the users to accept its controversil new policy and it would not limit functionality of the app for those who have not accepted those terms and conditions till goverment passes the 'data protection bill', which specifies how such data can be processed.

Whatsapp's new policy was to have to come into effect in early 'February', but after a massive protest from the users regarding the issue of data privacy and sharing the data with the father campany 'Facebook', the indian government intervene into this issue and posponed this policy of the company till May 15, and then pushed this policy back one more time before the deadline.

This case has been investing by (CCI) 'competition commission of india'. (CCI) asked 'whatsapp' more information reharding is new policy as its clearly seems to be violating the very primary rights of  'data protection' of the citizens of india. Yesterday, Mr Harish salve, the senior advocate, told the court that "CCI is  inquiring into a policy that has already been put on hold by the company and the information CCI is asking for is already pending before both the Supreme Court and CCI itself . The matter was adjourned after Mr.salve sought time to repond to the CCI. Moreover, the company 'whatsapp' yesterday said said "recent update does not change the privacy of people's personal massages. Its purpose is to provide additional information about how people can interact with busineses if they choose to do so".

However, the IT ministry, which has now seen a leadership change, with  Aswini vaishnow replacing Ravi shankar Prashad, points out this issue saying that what 'whatsapp' is doing with its consumers in india is 'discriminatory' as in  europe there is no such policies where consumers have to share their personal information with the very app (whatsapp) compulsorily.

India is whatsapp's biggest market with 500 million + users still the app stands againest the allegations and says that it will continue to display the update to its users though 'whatsapp' voluntarily agreed to put the new policy on hold.

Delhi highcourt wants 'what's up' to be transparent regarding the new data privacy policy.
